PURPOSE OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH
The Board of Health has overall responsibilities for disease prevention and control, environmental protection, and promoting a healthy community. We have a primary responsibility over private wells, individual septic systems and substandard housing. The Board also responds to a variety of complaints regarding air and water pollution, and general nuisances.

In order to fulfill their duties, they develop, implement, and enforce health policies, oversee inspections and maintain minimum standards for sanitation in housing and foodservice establishments to insure that the basic needs of the community are met.

ONLINE PERMITTING
Montgomery Board of Health has transitioned to an online permitting system, through which all new and renewal applications must be submitted. Your current license/permit will expire on December 31st*, and if you wish to renew for the upcoming year, you must do so using our online permitting system.

  • Create a new account.
  • Fill in your personal details on the first page. This is the information that we will use to contact you as the applicant for the permit.
  • On the next page, create a simple login name that only has letters and numbers.
On the third page, you will be asked if you are making an account as one of the types of applicants below, or you can just choose “Next” and then “Submit” and you will be registered. You can update these later, but it is good to do it now.
  • as a CONTRACTOR
  • as an ESTABLISHMENT, RESTAURANT or FACILITY
  • as a SEPTIC DESIGNER
  • as a SEPTIC INSTALLER
  • as a SEPTIC INSPECTOR
  • as a RUBBISH HAULER
Finally, log in again and apply for the permit type that you wish to renew.

When your Application is submitted, you may attach any important documentation using the PAPERCLIP icon. Your application will appear “Pending” if it was submitted correctly.

Use the “paperclip” icon to the right of your application to attach any required supporting documents. Use the “eye” icon to the left of your application number to view the status/workflow, to edit your application, to pay your fee, or to print your new license/permit once it has been issued.

After your application has been reviewed by a Health Director, you will receive an email from PermitEyes that you can pay for your permit using our online payment option.

You will also receive an email when your permit is ready to print. If the “chat” bubble appears red, please click on it and respond appropriately.

You may request for the Town of Montgomery to process your Board of Health application; there is a $25.00 fee for this service. However you are required to provide all necessary/required documentation prior to the assistance commencing. Please be reminded that the license/permit to operate is your responsibility; therefore, we ask that you act promptly to avoid additional fees.
